Pinterest Event Codes!

Hey guys, so I need help with configuring the event codes! Basically, I know that there's two options one is to use Google tags manager and another is to manually add tag code to website! Can someone please help me out, how to install it on the website and is that is a better option? What is easier?

Thanks a lot!!!

I'm so sorry to hear your having trouble installing your tags. It can be frustrating when there are changes made to your integrations that cause them to fail silently.

But, I have some good news. Pinterest did make some recent changes to the workflow and documentation for installing your tags. These changes, I believe, create a more optimized and streamlined process.

Below you'll find detailed instructions on how to access this information for your own tags.

You should be good to go either install your tags manually or by using Google Tag Manager.

I hope this helps! 🤓📌

I understand that you have to install the base code and the ponterest tag manager code or script to your website or to Google tag manager to make it work! What I'm currently asking is what do you do with the last step (step 9) where it's says use these code snippets to track specific behavior? Where do you have to add those event code snippets like the checkout, page views and leads snippets?

Hi @simplybykristina

I'm going to piggy back off @andrealidesigns thorough reply -

The event tags (which measure the conversions) should always be placed on the page that falls after the action.  For example:

The CHECKOUT tag should fire after the checkout is complete so the tag should be on the confirmation or Thank you page.

The PAGE VIEW tag should be placed on any product page or landing page that you want to track visitors (similar to your base code but rather than placed on all pages, it's only on pages you would like to retarget to)

The LEADS or SIGN UP tags should be placed on a Thank you page on your site that they get redirected to once they hit subscribe or sign up.  (Most, if not all, email providers should provide the option to redirect to a url upon completion of an opt-in form.  You'll want to create the Thank you page on your site and use that URL to redirect to.)

Hope that helps! 🙂
