What’s your opinion on voiceovers for idea pin clips? Is that better for the viewer?
voice over + text
Or voiceover and text in description only?
Hey @nerigonzo , that's a great question. Tagging @isabelledias @beboldwithkatah @mulberrycolors @hellohomegirl @veronikalipar for some ideas
Hi @nerigonzo ! And thanks for the tag, @michaelbliss !
I enjoy voiceovers and I like recording voiceovers to show a little of my personality. I create idea pins with voiceovers + text on the video itself. That way, the people who watch with the volume off can still get the information I'm saying. In the description, I like to add more keywords so that people can find my idea pin when they search. I don't do voiceovers for every idea pin, but there are creators who do! Just try different things and see what resonates with viewers and what feels good to you.
Hope this helps!
I think it depends on the nature of your idea pin. Voiceover is a great way to relate with Pinterest users and be seen as the creator behind the video. I speak as I make a video mostly & sometimes add a voiceover. I think using my voice gives the videos sincerity & a genuine feel that is clear to the users.
Thanks for tagging me @michaelbliss. I personally don't use voice overs and don't really have any interest in doing so at least in this moment. I also have never really stopped to listen to a voice over. Many people might just be scrolling and see the video without any volume on. Interested to hear if others stop and listen to voice overs and if most people have volume up or down.
I use both. But haven't tried ab test for voice captions for all my pin ideas yet. So far I have only used voice captions for some outfit pin ideas. It can quickly become too much of everything.
Anyway, here are some of my examples. x Let me know what you think about these.
1) pin idea with voice captions https://pin.it/POkOE1m
2) pin idea with text overlay and voice over but no voice captions https://pin.it/403vOso
4) no text, no voice over for outfit pin ideas https://pin.it/2wt5HXz
Thank you so much for the tag @michaelbliss
I think voiceovers are a great tool to communicate more visual-led Ideas! For example, if you are sharing a recipe or even a morning routine Idea, voice overs give you a great way to show a step-by-step process to your audience and help them view themselves inside of that Idea. It makes things more tangible!
I think you don't need to add text to every frame (I don't, not even on my talking-to-the-camera Idea Pins), but you can use it to reeeeally drive home points of the Idea Pin that you know are key ones.
Here is a recent voice-over Idea Pin that I did that kinda shows all of the theory in action, haha
@nerigonzo let me know if you have any questions or want to brainstorm ideas; I would be more than happy to help!
I forgot to mention I don't like voiceovers as a viewer. I use them as a creator, but when I watch idea pins from other creators, I turn off the voice. It feels like I was invading their personal space. I know, nonsense, I can watch everything on tiktok, but find it so personal on pinterest.
