Pin Description when using Rich Pins?

We are looking at reworking our pin descriptions. However, it seems that when you have rich pins, the pin description used when the pin was created is not displayed to a user. Rather the product description from our website where the Rich Pin data is pulled is displayed.

So, is there any point in crafting the pin description aimed at someone reading it? i.e., Call-to-Actions, etc. If it isn't displayed, is it used at all?

Should we be writing the pin description targeted to the Pinterest search indexing instead?

Does anyone have any insights on this?

Thanks.
