[MEGA TOPIC] Sudden decrease (around 70%) in Reach: Anyone else?

@typicallytopical thanks for the tag 🙂

I got accidentally caught up in the spam filter a few months ago. I had no idea what was happening until I reached out and it was discovered and corrected.

All my stats would just slowly drop and drop and drop some more with me being clueless what's going on so I would always advice to reach out to pinterest.

I know right now all the responses seem not very helpful and who knows what's going on behind the scenes.

My best advice right now would be to regularly make new pins, pin less rather than 20 pins a day and stay consistent until this is hopefully resolved soon.

After my account was corrected it slowly went back up, I just changed my whole strategy again tho so I can't say how good that solution was 🙂

I hope for everyone here experiencing major traffic drops that everything will go back to normal soon!

Hi all

After wasting three weeks trying to get a sensible and rational answer from Pinterest on why my steadily increasing pin impressions fell to single figures all I've had is the usual mush 'people want new material, seasonal, this drop is quite normal'.

Three days ago I published a new blog post and followed it up with a pin which mentioned Fall, Scarves and Over 50 in the text overlay.  Surely this is seasonal and new material enough for Pinterest.  But no, I'm still only getting single figure impressions.  They say interest has dropped off but how do they know if they never show my pins?  Even with single figure impressions I have had a couple of click throughs.

When I search using my key topics and hashes all I get is rubbish mainly from just one or two Pinterest accounts - one of these accounts is so old that all the Pins lead to 'page not found'.  The lovely lady who was pinning may even be dead as her last pin was about 10 years ago and she was 70 years old then.

So how does any of this amount to new material etc.

It seems lots of people have the same problem and that it has not been solved.

This is our livelihood being trashed.  My page views are down over 60% so my ad revenue is also disappearing.  I use Tailwind, never spam, have read and watched everything I can find on Pinterest best practice and produce attractive Pins.  This is not an analytics glitch this is effectively banning an account whilst saying it is active.

If Pinterest wants to make millions it needs to gain the confidence of Pinners.  As it is, many of us will soon have to abandon the platform unless this problem is resolved.

My new ticket number was closed in less than 24 hours. I was asked to wait 8 more weeks after I had waited 12 weeks since I first identified the problem. This can't possibly be right. I first asked for help on May 31st. On June 15th I was ASSURED the problem would be fixed in 8 weeks. On September 20th, I was told to wait 8 more weeks. Here at just two of the over 30 emails I have sent on this single issue

Hi Chris,

Our engineering team is still looking into the issue and we still do not have an exact timeline when the issue will get fixed but please be assured, it will be fixed in 8 weeks. I'm going to close out this ticket but be assured that the issue is still being worked upon and will be sorted out.

I understand 8 weeks is a pretty long time. However, please note, we will not only fix the issue but make sure the issue doesn't occur again in the future. Kindly note it's the maximum time we take to fix it, the issue might get fixed any time with the time period mentioned.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards
Logan

Hi Chris,

Thanks for writing back and sorry for the trouble!

I’ve escalated this to our Engineering team to take a closer look and it will be fixed in 8 weeks. I'm going to close out this ticket in the meanwhile, please try to create new content on Pinterest via our create flow or directly save content from various websites that interest you. This link has tips on creating content on Pinterest.

Also, keep in mind, Pinners come to our platform to find new ideas and as we continue to update our service, we'll prioritize new original content published by creators over Saves. Learn more about publishing your content in our help center (https://help.pinterest.com/business/article/publish-your-content).

Thanks for your patience in the meantime and apologies for any inconvenience this causes. Feel free to reach back out if you see the issue persist after 8 weeks, and we'll be happy to investigate further.

Hope this helps! Let me know if there is anything else!

Thanks,
Peter

Can anyone on the Pinterest team help me with this?

Hi @ABCofParenting , you will need to contact the Pinterest business support team and ask if your domain has been flagged as spam by mistake. They will check with a specialist team to see what's going on on the back end.

Unfortunately, I can't tell from my side. There is no 'signal' that tells you you've been flagged on the user side of the account.

You can however do a test; if you create a pin that links to your domain and it gets low impressions/no engagement, and then push another pin relating to a different domain or even your youtube/instagram account, and you see a difference in engagement, then your domain is probably marked as spam.

Hope they're able to find the issue for you!

Charlotte

I'm going to cry and I'm ready to figure out how to go public with all my issues (time to scream from the mountain top).

I reached out to Pinterest support again on Saturday with a NEW issue of my saves not showing in the Pin stats and also expressed that I did not want a canned response and told them about all my other issues I still have (i'm still dropping from my 2 million monthly views to 860K and dropping as I type this and almost no views on current content. Old content which is not the best content is getting views these days which is very strange). Anyways my reponse from Pinterest Lisa (and I quote).."THANKS FOR WRITING IN! APOLOGIZE FOR THE TROUBLE" and then nothing. Zip, Zero, NO response what so ever after that! Joe that I was dealing with last week told me he understood my concerns and issues and had a team looking into it, has also dropped off the face of the earth and refuses to respond to me.

How is this even allowed? If I dealt with my customers the way Pinterest has dealt with us, I would be fired.

Now due to all these issues, my Pinterest Marketing Business is suffering and this is due to me not wanting to sign new clients up to a platform that treats there customers this way (and I have purchased advertising in the past, so I'm a paying customer). I have lost faith that Pinterest is the amazing platform I thought it was.

I can't even seem to get a response from the Pinterest business community managers on here. They respond to everyone else but I can't even get a thumbs up by one of them that they have seen my concerns and issues.

I am at a brick wall and I don't know what to do. While it's oddly comforting to know I'm not alone, it's also scary to know nobody is getting anything resolved.

Thanks for chiming in.

However, a lot of us here (those that experienced traffic drops recently) has contacted Pinterest already and was told that our accounts and domains were not flagged for spam or anything. Even though from the analytics standpoint, it's evident that it is.

In my case, pin impressions for pins that linked to my website dropped from 60K on September 3 down to a measly 4K starting September 16.

But impressions for "other pins" (not linking to my "claimed account") remained stable.Screen Shot 2020-09-21 at 8.40.19 PM.png

@egruening

Same experience here, I've been told that they'll forward my issue to the relevant team, but I haven't heard back from them since last week. I sent another email again today. If I don't hear back, I'll probably open another ticket.

It's easy to see how this sense of hopelessness can lead to deep, deep depression. I'm not giving up.  I had the exact same experience. I've lost thousands of views and was reduced to rubble overnight. Spammers had stolen my pins and created thousands of pins, hundreds that are ranking in search.

I created a very detailed report about everything with screenshots and clear proof something was amiss with spam pins ranking everywhere.

I talked to somebody named Joe and at first he gave me a very generic response about ebbs and flows. I'm sure he didn't even look at the attachment I sent in. I then put my ticket information in a post on this forum. Suddenly, he came back with a different response.

I asked for clarification and he said he would forward my response to the team. A few days later I asked for a follow up and instead heard back from another team member. Here is the response:

"I understand your concern but I would like to assure you that everything looks normal also our team is working continually to improve the performance. "

A simple search would clearly show that things were not "normal." After months of listening to every excuse, I have given up on support.

How does a complete spam account that has stolen my pins and links to garbage have millions of views? Is this normal?

How about this one?

Sadly, until Pinterest fixes this, you have to start over.  Every previous pin that was ranking and spammed to death is dead.

Hello, I'm Sara form Italy.

I'm having a serious traffic drop (from 600 click/day to 50) since friday, 18 September.
My pins, all brand new fresh content from my verified site, are receiving 5 or 6 impression, no one more.

I've already contacted Pinterest Italia and they answered me that this is  because people's interests may vary during the year. Now, I don't think that in 24 hours no one in Italy is not interested anymore in my site... it is a little bit a strange answer. Write again, same answer again.

I've put all my effort in building ad audience in Pinterest and I'm loosing so much money from this.

I'm just ankling for someone caring about my situation, as I'm feeling very lonely and frustrated.

Thank you!
