Let's walk through setting up a Rich Pin for those of you looking to try one for the first time or just double-checking you've done it correctly. 🙂

First, you’ll need to add metadata to the content on your site.
To see what kind of metadata is available for each type of Rich Pin, check out our topics on article, product and recipe Pins. Generally, the most common formats are Open Graph and Schema.org. If you add metadata for multiple types of Rich Pins to your page, the type of Pin that appears will be based on priority. The priority of Rich Pin data is 1. App Pins, 2. Product Pins, 3. Recipe Pins and 4. Article Pins.

Second, apply for Rich Pins
You need to verify your Rich Pins before they appear on Pinterest. Choose any page on your site that you’ve added metadata to. Enter your chosen URL in our validator and click Validate. Correct any problems you see with your metadata. Once everything is correct, select one of three options to indicate how you've marked up your pages: HTML Tags (if you are using Open Graph or Schema.org metadata), oEmbed (if you used the oEmbed format) or Shopify (if you have a Shopify store). Click Apply now.

You can also find instructions on how to apply for Rich Pins on our help center article.

Note: You only need to validate 1 URL to apply for Rich Pins on your entire domain. No need to submit all of your URLs.

Remember to come back and share your Rich Pin experiments once you've had a chance to try them out! 🙂

Can you create rich pins for multiple URLs under the same account? Or do you need a separate account for each?

Great question, @authorbrookevs! In short, yes you could create rich pins for multiple URL's if one account creates pins using different domains. We highly recommend enabling rich pins for the domain(s) you own to ensure you can make edits to the source code in case there are display issues.

How do I set up iOS app Rich Pins so that the pin includes the app store download button? Or is this only available for promoted pins? Thanks!

Hey @theprogressapp! The option to set-up app Rich Pins is no longer available on Pinterest. This is only available for Promoted Pins. More info can be found here

Hi PinterestGabby, I have set up Rich pins but it still isn't puling the meta data from my site which means my pins hardly have any reach! I have reached out to Pinterest 2 weeks ago but they say they haven't heard back from the specialist department yet.

Just wondering if you know anything that might help? Thanks!

I have done it over and over doesn't seem to work, even though it said was successfully validated.

Hi @PinterestGabby do you know how long the reply usually takes? I have heard from others with the same problem that it should be a quick fix. Very grateful for your help!
