4 Different Kinds of Product Pins - Trying to decifer...

Just trying to wrap my head around the different things I'm seeing:

1. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/61643088640093225/ - I think this version, with the dots on the image, is only generated when Pinterest tags an image automatically.

2. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/857232110320345211/ - I think this is just a product Rich Pin, generated by Pinning an image from a site with Rich Pins enabled (and possibly with product feed)

3. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/857232110319590988 - I believe this is what we'd call a Shopping Pin and is generated by a shopping feed.

4. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/100627372913764734 - I can't tell if we would call this a Shop the Look or a Collections Pin, but it's created by manually tagging an uploaded image (don't mind me, just testing)

Am I close? Am I missing any options? 🙂

From my understanding, these are all correct. #4 is a collections pin and you can tag urls or search your catalog or add a pin. They will show up underneath like shown. It has to be your own image from the verified site. But I read from Pinterest they only want you tagging product urls not a site or page that mentions them. You can't just paste a blog link here that links to the item. You can use affiliate links besides Amazon when linking as well.  Shoot me a dm if you want more info I wrote a whole blog post on this a couple of months ago

I will, thanks! And thank you for your reply 🙂 Note that for #4 I was able to add products that were not from my site. It makes sense it should only be products - and from your site, but it's definitely not limited to that.

Ya sorry if I was confusing you can link to anything (except Amazon affiliate links) the pin just has to be from your verified domain.

Hello Tailwind

About your second point: product rich pin, if my site with rich pins enabled(I'm a shopify site and have added pinterest app), do I need to apply verified merchant program firslty, then my pins can become product rich pin? thanks.

Hello there!

It looks to me like you have to have the product feed in order to have Rich Pins now.  https://help.pinterest.com/en/business/article/product-pins

I asked about this on this conversation if you want to follow it: https://community.pinterest.biz/t5/support-and-questions/what-are-product-pins-and-how-do-they-work/...

Yes, that seems correct. The only thing that I don't like is that Pinterest automatically tags products. So your pins are helping someone else sell their products! As a buyer, I like the idea but for a business, it stinks. I worked for a couple of influencers and it was almost impossible to monetize for them because of this.

Thanks for your help.

I did as that guide, I also added the pinterest app in my shopify site, but all filed, the status shown "

 Has qualified Rich Pin Data Type" missing,  I even added

<head>
    <meta property="og:type" content="product" />
    <meta property="og:title" content="Technology Will Save Us Gamer DIY Kit" />
    <meta property="og:description" content="One of the permanent installations in the collection of Humble Masterpieces at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, this DIY gamer kit from London-based company Technology Will Save Us is equal parts gadget and design classic. " />
    <meta property="og:url" content="http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=37075900"/>
    <meta property="og:site_name" content="Urban Outfitters" />
    <meta property="product:price:amount" content="98.00" />
    <meta property="product:price:currency" content="USD" />
    <meta property="og:availability" content="instock" />
</head>
in my site, but all failed.
Are there bug with shopify site when they apply product rich pins, because there are many users of shopify
meet the same problems now.

If the pin is from your website you may add your own tags and they will overwrite the ones they add. To tag products, it must be a product link to an actual product. So an influencer can use their affiliate links and tag the products the pin. Besides Amazon links. Hope that makes sense let me know if you have any questions I will try and help.
