What's holding you back from running ads on Pinterest?

I've been running ads for clients on Pinterest for a few years now and let me tell you, it was definitely intimidating when I got started!  I am constantly learning new things still.  As we know, things continue to evolve on the platform but Pinterest offers a lot of support to people wanting to get started running ad campaigns.  So don't let the unknown hold you back. ☺️

Tell me, have you run ads on Pinterest in the past?  If so how did they do?  Would you do anything different this time?  Or, are you considering running a campaign but have no idea where to start?

Let's use this thread as a place share our experiences and offer others some tips for running their own successful campaigns.  📌

The information you provided has been incredibly helpful, and it has given me fresh insights and direction on how to approach advertising on Pinterest. Regarding what you mentioned about collecting enough Pinterest tag data and then launching retargeting ad campaigns aimed at those who have interacted with your Pins or visited your website, how much data is considered "enough"?

There's not an exact number to hit in order to retarget to.  But if you want to retarget website visitors, you'll want some data on your tag before retargeting.  This could vary based on your website traffic and how long you've had your tags (Pinterest tag, page visit event, add to cart, and checkout) set up on your website.  If you just recently set them up, you could run a prospecting campaign for a few weeks first to drive more traffic to your site before kicking off a retargeting campaign.

To see your tag data, click on Ads > Conversions > Event History

NOTE: Aside from retargeting to people who visited your site, you can also retarget to people who have engaged with your content ON Pinterest or you can upload a list of email subscribers or past customers to retarget to as well.
