Where to find Product ID - Shopify

So I recently connected my shopify using the pinterest app. My catalog is present within Pinterest but I can't edit it or view it because it comes from Shopify. I'm waiting to be approved as a verified merchant (not sure if relevant.)

So the core of the issue. I want to tag existing pins with products from my catalog. When I click the tag product icon, it brings me to the pin builder and my options are: My pins, URL, Catalog. I'm under the impression I can connect products via catalog, but it asks for a product id. Where can I find a product id?

Shopify doesn't have a product id field, nor is there a place I can view the Pinterest product catalog on Shopify.

I feel like I'm missing something.

Any help is greatly appreciated

We don't have a live chat feature at this time, but I can see that you've created a ticket and are working with our team. I would keep the focus there and work with the technical specialist since you're able to share account specifics with them in that format for the best troubleshooting.

In general, the .atom version of the file "should" work as the help center link from Shopify described, but it's not 100% accurate xml formatting that Pinterest requires, which is why we've developed the Shopify app. If this doesn't work, the other alternative would be to create a manual version of your feed via xml/csv and then upload a link to that file...this would require that you manually update the link when items in your feed change (i.e. availability, price, sale, etc)

Hi @PinterestGabby and @PinterestBrad

I am not receiving the help I need from the support team. I reached out to them (as I did here on this forum) for assistance troubleshooting with the issues I mentioned here. I received this unhelpful email (below). Where does this leave me? I am still unable to move forward with rectifying these problems. Can anyone help me??

Hi, thanks for your answer, but me and tons of other shop owners on shopify have problem with catalog connection and tag issue with product ID.

The Pinterest self-help documents somewhat are annoying as they are outdated. I follow the guidance then didn't find the fields mentioned in the document. Then I was literally stuck.

The error message was another annoying. Got the same message every time the catalog connection was failed. Don't know why nor how to fix it. Even when I sent emails to ask for help from Pinterest officer, I got the same reply every-time! No help at all.

the automatically pinterest tag connection has so many problems.

Hello!

We recently used the Shopify App to link our webstore to our Pinterest account. Everything went smoothly except we are now seeing the alert that the Product ID was not included. Is there a way to add this manually? or should we try reinstalling the Shopify Pinterest app?

Hi everyone.

@lulyhomedecor I am sorry for the delay. I will kindly ask you to disconnect and reconnect your app again, please. Let me know if this works. I hope it does!

@thegrayl Emily, I have taken a look at your website and the product id is properly included now, but let me know if you still need assistance with that, ok?

Hi there, I'm having the same problem with the Product Id as all of the people here.

Here's my situation:

- I'm not able to install the app from the Shopify app store.
- I implemented my Pinterest tag via Google Tag Manager guided by a couple of YouTube tutorials as the Pinterest documentation is very confusing
- The tag fires for all events: Page Visits, Add To Carts, and Checkout
- I get following 3 errors:

Product ID
Make sure you are including Product IDs in your Page visit events. A Product ID can be any format you choose as long as it matches the format used by your catalogue.

Product ID
Make sure you are including Product IDs in your Add to basket events. A Product ID can be any format you choose as long as it matches the format used by your catalogue.

Product ID
Make sure you are including Product IDs in your Checkout events. A Product ID can be any format you choose as long as it matches the format used by your catalogue.

PROBLEM:
How do I get the Product id sorted manually or via the Google Tag Manager?
Can you please guide me on where can I find detailed, step-by-step documentation for this process?

I'm aware of this page, but this documentation is super confusing:
https://help.pinterest.com/en/business/article/google-tag-manager-and-pinterest-tag

Is there anything better than the above with step-by-step instructions?

UPDATE:
More specifically, can I get someone to help me understand/break down into steps how to do the following:

"In order for this to work, you'll also need to create a data layer variable called "items" on any page you want to set the product IDs and product categories. You can set all of them here:"

This is just a follow-up message to my previous post.
This is still unresolved and looking forward to a response from the support team.

Thank you!
