As a breast cancer survivor, being able to share mastectomy photos on Pinterest has been huge for my blog and helped so many women find the valuable experience and resources I provide. Most of my story pins thus far have been about other aspects of my life: style, beauty, toddler life, food and coffee but I am ready to start sharing more of my cancer content on story pins but I will admit I am scared. I want to know what the community guidelines are as to showing mastectomy content and scars. On other platforms mastectomy content is protected but last time I shared something on story pins with just the word "breast" related to mastectomy it got flagged. I would love to know where Pinterest stands on this and how breast cancer creators can safely share without our content being reported.
@mycancerchic While I don't have cancer, I do have a genetic mutation and I am scheduled to have a prophylactic double mastectomy on 5/31, so in a little less than 3 weeks. I am thinking about sharing my journey as well. I appreciate you asking this question! I would love to team up with anyone else wanting to share their journey too.
Thats amazing I highly encourage you to share! I know it will help others @cribbsstyle
@mycancerchic I heard back from the team and it appears that there were some other Idea Pins on a private board that were hidden/flagged that have since been approved that may in fact have impacted this particular pin in question. I hope this helps and keep being brave and creating beautiful content!
@PinterestMyriah Thank you so much for looking into this for me!
