Hi friends,
I just received an email from a major Canadian grocery who wants to partner with me on Pinterest. I'm excited as it would be my first partnership. They are asking me how much I would charge for a 3 month Idea Pin. I have no idea how to do this. My blog is one story but Pinterest is another. Can anyone share some insight please?
Thanks
CBB
Hey there @cdnaugle! First: congratulations, that's amazing!!
Brand partnerships fees are very personal and will highly vary according to your following, engagement, and the type of work they are asking you to do. A good method to figure out an amount that makes sense for you is this:
#1 Understand what they are asking for and how many hours it may take you to create and deliver the whole project, from beginning to end. Make sure to include time researching, buying whatever props necessary, filming, editing, and even writing the emails as you communicate with the brand.
#2 Then, ask yourself: "How much does one hour of my work costs?" maybe you already have this number, maybe not. If you don't, I recommend checking out your area's minimum wage and using that as a starting point.
#3 After that, multiply the hours necessary for the project by your hourly Rate. So, for example (the below example rate is for illustrative purposes only):
Hours necessary to complete the project: 10
Hourly Rate: $25
Final Rate for Content: $250
You can use this as a starting point because your creativity and ideas cannot be measured in a number of hours - and that's the priceless part.
About their 3-month use, you NEED to get paid for it! They are using your image, and you need to be appropriately compensated. Usually, each month of paid use is around 30% of the content's final Rate. So keeping on the example we talked about before, it would look something like this:
Final Rate for Content: $250
Paid Monthly Use (30%) Fee: $75
3 Months of Paid Use: $225
Final Amount: $475
I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any follow-up questions. Happy to chat further! And again: congratulations!!
- Also, check the Paid Partnership Workshop for more info as you start to (hopefully!) partner with more and more brands inside Pinterest!
