I lost over 3.5 million views in 3 weeks!

I’m a food blogger that had a reach of 6.5 million monthly impressions on Pinterest.

On Thursday July 1, I received a notification that my account was suspended for (falsely) violating community guidelines. This was a mistake on their end. They apologized and rectified the situation, reinstating my account.

However, when my account was reinstated, I 2,000 of my followers were missing. They also since rectified that glitch

The problem is that since this whole suspension fiasco, my videos have been getting no views. I went from getting between 3K-5K views per video with tons of saves and repins, to now, my videos get 5, 10, 25 views, period -- (many of which are my own views, checking to see if the situation has been fixed.)

It's as though my videos are not being released to the Pinterest community/search timeline, and are being held back. (My content is food recipe videos, nothing that would violate any community guidelines).

Before the account suspension, I was getting 6.5 million monthly views, and climbing. NOW, in just the THREE WEEKS that this whole thing has been going on, I am down to 3.1 million monthly views, and falling rapidly. That is a loss of nearly 3.5 MILLION in just three weeks.

One other piece of insight that may be helpful, is that I am not receiving the "Video Processing, You will be notified once your content is live" message that pops up immediately after you post a video pin, nor a notification that my video is live. That "pause period" after uploading when it's not live, but showing it's processing, is no longer there, the video just gets added to the board, again - with no views.

Ive been reaching out to support 3x a day since this happened and they say it’s a normal ebb and flow, and that it’s normal. NOT AT THE TUNE OF 3.5 MILLION!!

Help please! I’ve worked so hard to build my Pinterest and I am HEMORRHAGING viewership. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated!

best,

caralyn

I feel ya. I can tell you from my experiences, it takes 3-6 months after a random suspension to regain your "impressions".  My account has randomly been suspended 3 times in the last 2 years. All 3 times, my account was reinstated in less than 24 hours and the standard "oops, got caught in the spam filter" response from Pinterest support. Except for this last suspension, since it was sooo massive we all got the "oops" email.

The first time my account was suspended, it took around 6 months for my impressions to return. The second time my account was suspended, it took 2 months to start noticing it going up and it was back to a bearable level after about 3 months.

So, since this recent Pinterest "oops" I suspect we won't see reasonable impressions until October-ish time frame.

It's so frustrating because it's like starting over again and again and again. I can't grow my account because of these constant mistakes pinterest is making. Our accounts get suppressed for months following their mistakes and they won't do anything about it.

I've complained several times and Support just sends the canned emails about ebb and flow, which is an outright lie. I'd much rather be told the truth which I'm guessing is something along the lines of having to rebuild your account with steady pins and following best practices (which I've always done, but get suspended anyways for spam) for the algorithm to trust the account again and show pins to more users. That's better than being lied to. It's just shameful that pinterest engages in shoddy communications instead of being honest.

@beautybeyondbones We are all in the same boat honey. We don't know what Pinterest wants anymore. They ask for more fresh pins but they're not showing them to our followers. It's absolutely frustrating!

Sooo frustrating! I can have 100k views today and then 39K by tomorrow.

Hi @beautybeyondbones

You are certainly not alone in this. But i don't think the reason your account is losing views is because of the "accidental" suspension.

I also caught an accidental suspension about 2 months ago, which i appealed and they rectified. Everything was working fine for like a month or so, until one day when my fresh pins just stopped receiving impressions, and i was left with about 10 impressions per fresh pin, as opposed to thousands i used to have before.

Reached out to pinterest, received the usual "ebbs and flows" message. And it seems more and more creators are beginning to face this issue every day.

I really don't know what we can do at this point, other than complain and hope they fix it. But even I am beginning to lose that hope unfortunately.

@momentswith   LOL, Pinterest continuing to ask for "fresh pins" is a joke. Fresh pins get no love from Pinterest. My top performing pins are from 2019 and those continue to outperform anything I've done in 2021.

You are right, I'm in the same situation, my impressions dropped from 3,6 millions to 500.000 and since February all my new pins have no impressions, no click, no comments. Nobody can see it.

The views are now only for IDEA PINS, other pins do not any impressions. Pinterest is only promoting idea pins.

It's true. Pins Idea are the only that have good performance. Unfortunately they dont' give any ooutbound click, so are completely useless if you have a blog and dont' sell nothing....Ar only loto ow work to do in exchange of nothing.....
