HOW TO AUDIT YOUR PINTEREST PROFILE AND BOARDS

Take at least 15 minutes and write out your strategy statement if you haven’t already. This is a helpful guide for why marketing on the platform makes sense for YOUR brand. When traffic has its ups and downs, this will help you stay focused on what’s important.

Then think of the metrics that are going to guide you (clicks, saves, impressions, followers, etc). Pick the top 3 you want to keep as your guide as you clean up your Pinterest account and audit your boards.

STEP 1: PINTEREST PROFILE REVIEW

Take a quick glance at your profile. Does it still reflect your mission or niche? Do your profile picture, description, and overall boards still communicate your message? If not, make a few changes.

STEP 2: MOVING & RE-TITLING BOARDS

Retitle your boards if needed and make sure your board descriptions are really clear. Move any personal boards or boards that don’t fit your niche to secret, so Pinterest doesn’t get confused as to what your brand is about.

STEP 3: ASSESS GROUP BOARD EFFECTIVENESS

Take a look at your board analytics and determine the effectiveness of any group boards you're a part of. Does it correlate with your brand/are you getting seen from this board?

Group boards are a great idea for service-based industries, especially for photographers, wedding-based businesses, or even branding businesses. The Pinterest board is a vehicle through which you can share ideas in a visual way with clients.

Just Stay Consistent

It's great to evaluate the look and effectiveness of your Pinterest Profile every year or so but remember, consistency on the platform is key! Focus on creating great content and sharing that content with your audience on Pinterest consistently.

What do you think about deleting pins you don't like anymore? I once read deleting your pins can hurt you.

@veronikalipar I actually almost added a paragraph about that but decided not to include it... ha!

Don't worry about deleting Pins!

It's a total waste of your time. Just focus on creating great content and sharing that content in various ways on Pinterest!
