Ready to up your Pinterest marketing game?

Don't have a lot of time to learn about search engine optimization (SEO)?

Me too.

Here's are simple steps I use to find keywords to optimize Pinterest accounts for marketing products, services, blogs and other content.

But first, whether you're a business owner, content creator or blogger:

Pinterest is best leveraged as a search engine tool. Not a social media platform.

By optimizing Pinterest as a search engine, business owners are better able to drive website traffic, convert leads and increase sales.

Content creators are better able to obtain more saves. Bloggers are better able to increase views of their blogs.

Pinterest users can also increase followers and engagement by simply focusing on SEO. So where does one get started?

1. Keywording is key.

Keywording is the way to be found on Pinterest. Using keywords and key phrases are game changers, especially if you're selling a product or service.

Wait, what the heck are keywords?

Keywords are the words and phrases that users type into search box of a search engine, such as Google, Youtube and Pinterest.

Users type keywords to find results from how-to videos to articles that match what are looking for. Depending on the topic and niche, some keywords get hundreds of thousands of unique searches a day while others get a couple of hundred.

2. Stick to the FAQs.

Start with your target market’s frequently asked questions (FAQs).

For example, what questions do you get asked the most about your product or service? What's the most commonly asked question in your niche?

Then work backwards to determine those key words.

Not sure what specific search terms are your target audience entering into the Google search bar?

Conduct keyword analysis in Google: “FAQ [insert topic]”

For example, since I write a lot about Pinterest SEO, I would enter "FAQ Pinterest" or "FAQ SEO" or "FAQ Pinterest SEO".

3. Pins, Boards and Profile.

Got those keywords? Great, now it's time to insert those keywords (or phrases) into your:

     1) pins titles
     2) pin descriptions
     3) board titles
     4) board descriptions
     5) pinterest profile/bio

Keywording these five sections can significantly fuel search engine optimization.

There are so many factors to consider when trying to figure out how much time SEO will take to be successful. But at the end of the day, a solid SEO strategy leads to an increase in organic reach. The right keywords grows and compounds over time.
